2. When can Umrah be performed?

Umrah can be performed at any time of the year except during the days of Hajj (8th to 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah). It is not restricted to specific dates.

3. Who is eligible to perform Umrah?

Any Muslim who is physically and financially able to make the journey to Mecca can perform Umrah. There are no specific age or gender restrictions, but minors often need to travel with a guardian.

4. What documents do I need for Umrah?

  • A valid passport with at least six months of validity.

The actual performance of Umrah rituals usually takes about 5 to 6 hours, but the whole trip, including travel, waiting, and rest, can take several days, depending on your itinerary.

  • Tahallul: Shaving or trimming the hair after completing the rituals (for men).

7. What is the difference between Umrah and Hajj?

  • Hajj is an obligatory pilgrimage that must be performed during specific days of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah. It is one of the five pillars of Islam, whereas Umrah is a voluntary pilgrimage that can be performed at any time of the year.
  • Hajj includes additional rites that are not part of Umrah, such as standing at Arafat and throwing pebbles at the Jamarat.

8. What is the Ihram?

Ihram is the sacred state in which a Muslim enters before performing Umrah or Hajj. It involves wearing specific clothing (for men, two pieces of white cloth; for women, modest dress) and refraining from certain activities like cutting hair, using perfume, and engaging in marital relations.
